Strawberry Rhubarb Combinations! What is your favourite?

Strawberry rhubarb treats are a favourite of mine. I have a BIG sweet tooth! I love pie, crisp and even stewed strawberry rhubarb sauce. The one thing I want to try is a strawberry rhubarb tea. I have seen a few combinations online but I have not tried making any yet. This is on my 'to do list'.

A little fun fact about rhubarb, rhubarb is actually a vegetable! That makes dessert even more enjoyable because you are actually eating vegetables!

In Ontario rhubarb is a pretty simple thing to grow. It takes little maintenance, which I love! The trick to rhubarb is to harvest it all season long. As soon as your rhubarb is ready in the Spring harvest it and continue harvesting until Fall. From my experience, the more you harvest the rhubarb, the better it is!

If your rhubarb patch gets too big it can be split and transplanted easily. The best time to transplant rhubarb is in the Fall. Rhubarb thrives in a sunny location. Funny enough, this Spring I transplanted a rhubarb plant and it is doing quite well. I was not sure if it would survive but did! I transplanted it because the wild raspberry bushes were over crowding the rhubarb plant. I had nothing to lose and it worked!

If you transplant rhubarb be certain to not disturb it for the first year. Do NOT harvest it! This will make your plant stronger. I think the saying is 'patience is a virtue'! A little patience goes a long way I guess! By leaving the rhubarb for that first year will allow you to enjoy rhubarb the next year and for many more to come!
