Last year Gypsy Moth Caterpillars invaded Ontario! They seemed to appear out of 'no where' and started eating all the leaves from many different trees. They especially find oak and maple trees quite delicious but will strip the leaves from other hardwood trees as well. Not only are these Gypsy Moths climbing in trees they are also finding their way onto all sorts of things around your yard like shelters, children's toys and even on your clothing. If you happen to hang your clothing on a clothes line be cautious as you may find some hiding in your clean laundry! Who wants to wash clothing twice? Not me! These Gypsy Moths are taking the pleasure out of being outdoors! To top it off, Gypsy Moths have tiny hairs that can cause a rash on your skin. You do not even require direct contact to develop this rash. The Gypsy Moths have tiny hairs that can travel in the wind and land on fabrics (clothing, towels, etc.). These items then are in contact with your skin. Check out our video to see how we are dealing with these little pests and see what my poor arms look like as a result!
